David Deshaies

Chef David Deshaies, hails from the Loire Valley, France. His culinary journey began in his family’s restaurant, leading him to apprentice in Normandy and work in Michelin-starred establishments across France and Spain. In 2001, Deshaies moved to the U.S., joining the legendary Michel Richard at Citronelle in Washington, DC. He swiftly rose to become the executive chef, playing a pivotal role in expanding Richard’s culinary empire.

In 2017, Deshaies embarked on a solo venture, opening “Unconventional Diner” in Washington, DC. This restaurant reflects his unique culinary vision, blending traditional diner fare with modern, innovative twists. His approach has earned widespread recognition, including praise from The Washingtonian and inclusion in The Michelin Guide.
